Binance will suspend crypto services across the European Union from July 1 after failing to obtain a MiCA license, while pursuing regulatory approval in France.

Binance to Halt EU Crypto Services From July 1

Binance has announced it will suspend crypto-related services across the European Union beginning July 1, after failing to secure authorization under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework before the deadline. The move marks one of the biggest regulatory setbacks for the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. The company has informed customers in multiple EU countries that it can no longer onboard new users and will gradually restrict certain services. Binance emphasized that customer assets remain safe and accessible throughout the transition process.

Why Binance Is Suspending Services

Under the European Union’s MiCA framework, crypto exchanges must obtain a regulatory license from an EU member state to legally provide services across the bloc after the transition period ends on July 1. Binance had submitted its MiCA application through Greece but later withdrew it before a final decision was issued. The company now plans to pursue authorization through France and says it remains committed to serving European customers once approval is obtained.

What This Means for EU Users

Affected customers will receive country-specific guidance from Binance regarding any service changes. According to the exchange:

•Existing customer assets will remain secure.

•Users will continue to have access to their funds.

•New account registrations have been suspended in affected markets.

•Some trading and crypto services will be restricted until regulatory approval is obtained.

Industry Impact

The development highlights the growing influence of Europe’s MiCA regulations, which establish a unified legal framework for cryptocurrency businesses operating within the EU. Competitors that have already secured MiCA authorization may benefit as European users seek alternative regulated exchanges. Binance has reiterated that Europe remains a strategic market and expects to obtain a MiCA license in the coming months through a different EU jurisdiction.
